For example, a 95 RON plus an 87 MON averages to a 91 AKI, which is the octane rating you would see displayed on a U.S. The AKI US Octane is an average of two other octane numbers, the RON and the Motor Octane Number (MON), which are determined by two different laboratory tests. On -1 under general Specifications it says Fuel type for all but CA, RON Research Octane 95. It runs terrific! I also bought a shop manual for it. I bought a 2021 Vaquero and have Ivan's tune. You can agree or disagree but that's what works for me and that's all that matters. Race Track, Wal-Mart, Quick Trip and other no names have gas just as it comes from the refinery. When that's not available I use BP, Shell, Chevron etc mid grade. I use COSTCO, because they are right around the corner and cheaper than anywhere else and the pump says 'Top Tier'. Come down a gear or two and I haven't experienced any problems. If you're in a higher gear and low RPM and crack the throttle wide open you'll gonna get some knock (pre-ignition remember?). Yes I'm Ivanized and I've used mid grade from day one. ![]() I've always been lead to believe that most if not all brand named or top tier gas contain detergents, etc. ![]() Premium is supposed to burn slightly slower to prevent pre-ignition, or engine knock if you like that term better, in high compression engines. From what I understand, and that may not be much, the difference is in the rate of burn. I wish I were sensitive enough to tell the difference of how much power I can feel between mid and premium gas but I'm not.
